People response to UMTS
Introduction
Basically UMTS has been develope, evolved and adopted mostly in Europe. A survey was conducted in Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Belgium called as Harris Interactive Survey. The survey was aimed to capture people's response to the UMTS. This survey was conducted between 27 February and 4 March 2004, among 10,581 adults, from which 9,865 were determined to be mobile users. The survey drew many important conclusions. Conclusion from Survey
The survey depicts that most of the people havent developed trust among UMTS services while many are still unaware of UMTS and its capabilities. Around 49 percent people said that they are not interested in services provided by UMTS. While 54% people said that they use cellphones just for making and receiving calls and nothing else. Most of the people believe that UMTS would be very expensive to use while many have doubts about the reliability of UMTS. A huge majority agreed that industry had failed to explain UMTS and why it is worth having UMTS. Another interesting part is that most of the negative views against UMTS were from UK where a UMTS operator has been runing since months. In my opninion, UMTS needs to be projected among layman and non-technical people so that its possitive points be elaborated among people to remoe invalid uncertainities. It has already been discussed that it would take around a decade for a UMTS operator to be profitable so uncertanities should be removed at such crucial time.
