Introduction
This article depicts Nokia's performance and strategy during 3GSM conference 2005. A couple of sets got announced having 6680, 6681, 6682 at the top. All three of them look the same and have almost similar features as based on series 60 platform for smartphones. They only differ in the network support i.e. Nokia 6680
is a UMTS smartphone, Nokia 6681 support 900/1800/1900 networks while Nokia 6682 supports 850/1800/1900 networks.
Nokia 6680 got some additional features due to presence of UMTS; they
include a separate VGA camera for video call feature which is one of the
beauties of UMTS.

Features
These smartphones could be said as an advancement to the 7610 and 6630. Now you can have megapixel capabilities in camera as well as music capabilities so that you can use it as an mp3 player. Nokia is also switching towards 18bit screens instead of 16 bit. Infact, Nokia might be the last in that race after Samsung and Sonyericsson. Other interesting features such as Push to Talk, 3D games, RS-MMC slot are also present in all of these smartphones.

Conclusion
I must say that Nokia again comes up with nice shape and feature set. Releasing different versions of the same set based on network support is a very good idea. Infact, it easily cuts the price if we compare to ones where 3G and GPRS are combined in one.
Nokia 6680 is expected to be released in march 2005, while Nokia 6681 in april and Nokia 6682 in the second quarter.
Recently Nokia has released it new N series in which Nokia N70 UMTS
smartphone almost looks like another Nokia 6680 which would be the result of
positive response of market from Nokia 6680.
